Here in the valley we have a wealth of opportunity to pursue a wide range of fishing. The proximity of the Great Smoky Mountains offers 800 miles of fishable streams where an angler can catch Brown, Rainbow and Southern Strain Brook trout, the only salmonid native to our region. We are also blessed with a river system that offers miles and miles of riverine and shoreline habitat where Smallmouth Bass, Large Mouth Bass, Stripped Bass, Musky and many other game
Do you know the basics of fly fishing, but feel a little overwhelmed fishing our local waters? Fly Fishing 201 is designed to give you a solid skillset to start exploring the fly fishing opportunities in East Tennessee and beyond. You'll receive personal instruction from a licensed guide to learn essiential skills for year-round fishing.
The goal is for you to have your own gear, but we can rent waders and wading boots if you need them, you will just need to arrange that with us before the class. All classes will meet behind the Second Baptist Church of Clinton. After the class, you're more than welcome to continue fishing until the water comes in. The upcoming dates are:

We will continue our 2019 Winter fly tying classes on Thursday, January 10th, with Fly Tying 101: Intro to Tools, Techniques and Terminology. We will cover everything from selection and use of tools, thread selection, and the basic tying skills you will need to get started in this rewarding endeavor. The class cost is $25.00 and will be limited to 6 students (minimum of 2). The class will begin at 6:00 pm and will end around 8 pm. All tools and materials are provided. If you can't make the first, we also have 4 other January dates scheduled for 101 classes.

Each of the dates below is the same class to accomodate different schedules, they are not meant to be taken in succession. In february we will offer more advanced courses, for tyers who are ready to take on more complex patterns. The schedule for more advanced classes will be posted soon.

We have all been in the position of wanting to upgrade our gear but simply can't justify it because we have a closet full of older stuff that "works." With that in mind, we have developed a way for you to turn old gear into new with the 3RA Upgrade Program. Here's is how it works. 3 Rivers Angler, your local fly fishing resource, is offering "fly fishing 101″ lessons on fly casting and outfit rigging at absolutely no charge. Each class teaches the basics of rigging, casting and other intro to fly fishing skills. All of the gear and instruction is provided free of charge. Space is limited so please make sure to sign up well in advance. Classes typically run from 9:00 am to 11:00 am on Saturdays and 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm on Wednesdays.
Bring a fly rod and reel with line if you have one, (if not, one can be provided in the beginning.) We'll be covering "what to buy" during the first class session so it is something that we can work around if you do not have one to start. Bring a notebook and pen to take notes. All graduates recieve 15% off their first purchase!
